Not only does it feature Coltrane and his soaring sax working through "Blue Train," it also gets some truly wonderful brass help from Lee Morgan and Curtis Fuller. Not as exploratory as his later work, but this is surely one of the most influential LPs to come out of jazz.

John William Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist, bandleader and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. Born and raised in North Carolina, Coltrane moved to Philadelphia after graduating high school, where he studied music.
