With ‘ok’, his new album and ACT debut, French trumpeter daoud offers a quiet manifesto - a record shaped by contrast and contradiction, by collapse and the stubborn act of beginning again. He explains: “The whole record is built around the concept of reluctant acceptance of things that you can’t control. All right, fuck it, fine, I guess.”

Surfacing just as alternative rock went mainstream, Beck’s 1994 official album debut, Mellow Gold, quickly confounded expectations when “Loser” metamorphosed from a rejected demo to a ubiquitous smash. “Loser” showcased Beck’s unconventional approach to songwriting and solidified his status and an innovative voice in alternative music. The song contains a sample from “I Walk on Guilded Splinters” by Dr. John. This edition is pressed on 180 Gram, Black Vinyl.

By the end of the 1970s Linval Thompson had cut out a successful dual career for himself as both singer and producer. Naturally he moved in the dub field as well, getting further use out of rhythms he used in his other works. Dub had begun strictly as an album format with limited pressing runs for scene insiders, but it had swiftly gained the interest of the rank and file reggae buffs.

Ancient Infinity Orchestra is a joyous large ensemble that has communal music-making at the heart of everything they do. Emerging from the depths of private-press obscurity, The People’s People Present The Spirit of David is a remarkable testament to the ambition and discipline of its creators. This singular album, originally recorded in 1974 and released in 1976, marks the first original work by tenor saxophonist Jeff Jones, who also arranged, wrote, and conceptualised the project. That same year, Jones founded The People’s People collective and The Voice of the People Publishing Company, using music and the arts as a platform to give voice to the voiceless.

The downtempo legacy of Tosca continues. For its 20th anniversary, which also marks !K7's 40th anniversary, it has been fully remastered and compiled into a beautiful gatefold 2LP.

Whether on the dancefloor or in headphones, this is music that moves.
