The James Dean Story

The James Dean Story

The story of this recording begins with James Dean, the first – and arguably still the most iconic – screen actor of the postwar period.

Artist: Chet Baker, Bud Shank

Genre: Jazz

Label:

Release date:

The story combined existing material from Dean’s East Of Eden, Rebel Without A Cause and Giant with pre-fame footage and interviews with those who knew him. What we have here is an interpretation of the film’s soundtrack music by jazz greats Chet Baker and Bud Shank, recorded in late 1956. With Chet Baker and Bud Shank both at the creative apex of their career, this remains a land mark recording six decades on and, like its inspiration, will never be forgotten.

About the artist

Chesney Henry "Chet" Baker Jr. was an American jazz trumpeter and vocalist. He is known for major innovations in cool jazz that led him to be nicknamed the "Prince of Cool".
