About the artist
Caetano Veloso was born on August 7, 1942, in Santo Amaro, Bahia. He studied philosophy at the Universidade Federal da Bahia and began recording in the mid-1960s; his early collaborative debut with Gal Costa on the 1967 album Domingo helped launch both careers. Veloso became a central figure of the Tropicália movement—alongside Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé and Os Mutantes.
