Like its predecessor, Action! bundled up another slew of the quintet’s recent hits featuring ‘Don’t Believe Me’, a stunning example of the rock steady genre with tight vocal harmonies and that Beverley’s rhythm section composed of Kingston’s finest session musicians, arranged by Leslie Kong. Also featured is the anthemic ‘Unity’, an historically important message calling for harmony in the post-independence era of Jamaica as a fully-fledged nation. Action! is an optimistic album full of beautifully executed harmonies and lyrics condensing messages down to their bare essence.
About the artist
Desmond Dekker was a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae singer-songwriter and musician. Together with his backing group the Aces, he had one of the earliest international reggae hits with "Israelites". Other hits include "007", "It Mek" and "You Can Get It If You Really Want".
