Lost In Sound - RSD26

Lost In Sound - RSD26

Artist: Yusef Lateef

Genre: Jazz

Label: Charlie Parker Records

Release date:

This record sees its first official vinyl reissue in over five decades. A stereo edition pressing on limited edition heavyweight color vinyl with an expanded gatefold sleeve.

Yusef Lateef needs little introduction: a multi-instrumentalist and jazz visionary who blended global sounds with spiritual depth. 'Lost in Sound' is one of his earlier titles, and his only record for the Charlie Parker label. It was recorded in New York - August 14, 1961 - 65 years ago.

Lateef focuses solely on tenor saxophone here as he moved away from hard-bop toward more exploratory horizons. The sides feature a lesser-known but remarkably cohesive quintet: Vincent Pitts (trumpet), John Harman (piano), Ray McKinny (bass), and Clifford Jarvis or George Scott (drums). The eight-track set blends soulful swing with post-bop, highlighted by Pitts’ originals “Soul Blues” and “Trudy’s Delight,” alongside a vibrant take on Charlie Parker’s “Dexterity.”

A collectors edition exclusively for Record Store Day 2026.

FAQs

Any stock left over after the weekend will be made available online at 6pm on Monday 20 April. Not before.

No! No matter what your particularly unique set of circumstances are that mean you can't make it on the day (!) we are not allowed to reserve stock for you. Please don't as us to.

Nope. Records will only be available on the day on a first come first served basis so get to the shop early to avoid disappointment. We will look after you! Anything that does not sell will be available on our website afterwards.

We won't know how many titles we will have (vs what we've ordered) until the boxes turn up in the week of RSD.. We won't be able to predict when items sell out either.

To avoid people reselling online for a higher price and to make sure everyone gets what they want, we are limiting customers to one copy of any one LP.
