Jazz Brut 0002
Here is the highly anticipated second volume of the JAZZ BRUT series produced by Q-Sounds Recording.
Artist: Various Artists
Genre: Contemporary Jazz
Label: Q-Sounds
Release date:
The philosophy remains the same: bringing musicians together for a day without them knowing the direction the recording will take. Following in the footsteps of experiments led by Sun Ra or, more recently, Damon Locks and Angel Bat Davis, JAZZ BRUT offers a collective approach to improvisation, without hierarchy, structured by rhythm. In this Volume 002, we find echoes of hip-hop, the piano of George Edouard Nouel, and the jazz-funk rhythms of Johnny Hammond, not to mention influences from the music of Francois de Roubaix and Morricone.
About the artist
Q-Sounds Recording brings its stone to the edifice of improvised music. Each album of the "JAZZ BRUT" series will offer the space for a recording session gathering musicians without any hierarchy and thus questioning the place of the soloist in Jazz. This experience of creative horizontality aims to generate a music that, even if it is part of the "Jazz field", does not produce a discourse governed by the cultural referents of a specialists' practice.
